PTE English Assessment Test Format

It is a computer-based test and is completely done solely on the computer in designated test centers in Lahore. Headphones are provided for listening or speaking purposes in the test.

The test has 3 main parts. Part one assesses the writing and speaking skills of the test taker, part two assesses the reading skills of the candidate and part three assesses the listening skills of the test taker. The test is done in one go and there are 20 different types of questions that are given in the exam. PTE is a 2-hour test with part 1 spanning over 54 to 67 minutes while parts two and three take 29 to 30 minutes and 30 to 43 minutes to complete respectively. PTE UKVI, PTE Academic, and PTE general are some variants of the test.

PTE Academic

PTE Academic has 3 parts. Part one has 7 different types of questions while part two has 5 types of questions and part three contains 8 different types of questions.

PTE General

PTE generally has the same type of questions and parts as that of PTE academics.

PTE English Assessment Test Scoring

Scoring of the PTE English assessment test is done on a scale of 90 scores with results being typically available within 2 business days. Universities globally usually demand scores between 36 and 50 for foundation courses. For undergraduate or bachelor courses the requirement of scores is between 51 to 60 and for Master or postgraduate programs the scores that are required out of 90 are between 57 to 67. 36 score in PTE is equivalent to 5.5 bands of IELTS. Similarly, 46, 56, 66, 76, and 84 scores in the PTE English assessment test are equivalent to 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, and 8 bands in IELTS.
